Fresh off their first place regional victory, Ad Team students from Johnson & Wales University are heading to Nationals.
There, they'll compete against some of the top advertising programs nationwide in America's premier college-level advertising competition.
Beating the CompetitionOur students placed first at the district level of the National Student Advertising Competition, held at Hill Holiday advertising agency in Boston on April 30.
The Ad Team faced stiff competition from Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and Rhode Island, including Emerson, Quinnipiac and Boston University.
But marketing executives from JCPenney, the competition's sponsor, and a panel of advertising professionals selected JWU’s campaign as the winner. Competing at Nationals This is the third time in just six years that our team has advanced to the American Advertising Federation (AAF) National Conference.Next, they’ll head to San Diego to showcase their advertising expertise against 15 other district winners, representing the best of the over 150 colleges.
Designing Professional Ads, Prepping for a Career The NSAC win is a big victory for our students: the competition has helped over 150,000 advertising professionals launch their careers. If you’re a Strategic Advertising, Creative Advertising or Graphic Design major, JWU's Ad Team gives you work experience creating real ad campaigns before you graduate.
And it prepares you for work at an agency. “I’d recommend the Ad Team to any students who want to better their portfolio," says alumnus Evan Dunn ’10. Evan was heavily involved with our Ad Team—now he’s a copywriter at Arnold, Boston, one of the world's most prestigious firms. “It worked for me,” he says.
