Want to Make a Difference? JWU Named a Top School for Community Service

imgFCM Community Service NMIIs community service important to you in your college search?

JWU has been selected for the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for the fifth year in a row — we may be the perfect fit for you.

Different Approach to Service
The honor roll is the highest federal recognition for colleges doing exemplary service in America’s communities.

JWU is one of only 114 schools in the country to make the honor roll with distinction. And we're the only university in Rhode Island to do so.

How is JWU different? We actually build community service right into our curriculum. You’ll have the chance to help people while you build the skills you need for a successful career.

Build Career Skills by Volunteering No matter what career path you choose at JWU, you’ll have plenty of opportunities not only to volunteer, but to do hands-on work that relates to your career.

Your options are limitless: Business students offer strategic consulting for small businesses. Interested in culinary or hospitality? You could teach at-risk kids about proper nutrition or plan events for charities. Tech students work on branding campaigns for local nonprofits.

What the Honor Roll Means to Us “Community service is in our mission, and it is one of the reasons our students choose to enroll here,” says Irving Schneider, PhD, campus president. “Through their community service and JWU’s service-learning programs, our students learn the importance of being responsible and caring neighbors and community citizens.”

Make an Impact at JWU
Last year, JWU students at our four campuses did a combined 100,363 hours of community service. Join us this year, when we hope to do even more. Visit us to get started.
