Born in Iceland, Magnus Thorsson worked as a peer tutor with Johnson & Wales in the early 1990s and joined the faculty in 2010. His experience encompasses all aspects of hospitality management having worked both front of house as well as back of house in a department head capacity for Hilton hotels both in New York City and Washington, DC. Since 2000 he has run a 29-room lodge in southern Vermont overseeing all aspects of the operation before joining the faculty full time.

Thorsson has extensive experience with Icelandic specialty foods serving as an advisor to the Icelandic embassy in Washington DC, as well as lecturer on food culture to the U.S. State Department.
