My Faculty Fave: Dr. Fran Cook

If you have the opportunity to experience Dr. Cook as your professor, you will understand my deep appreciation for her ability to impact the lives of all at Johnson & Wales UniversityBy Leo Garcia

I’ve experienced my fair share of professors during my time here at Johnson & Wales University.

But if I were to choose one instructor that has really impacted my education, it would be Dr. Fran Cook.

There are many reasons justifying Dr. Cook's title of “Most Awesome, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, Incredible Professor EVER.”

We’ve all heard of rateyourprofessor.com. Trust me when I say that I definitely have a ranking system:

1. She Treats You Like a Peer
My relationship with Dr. Cook is much more meaningful than a basic student-teacher affiliation. Every conversation is between peers — like co-workers, in fact — rather than me being viewed as a subordinate.

The level of professionalism I feel during courses with Dr. Cook have been both highly valuable and exceptionally memorable.

2. She Brings Business Experience into the Classroom
Her industry experience in operations management allowed me to gain a better understanding of that field than a textbook could teach me in years.

3. She's Always Making Class Better
While her classroom lectures are already informative and interactive, she is constantly working to improve the student experience, valuing constructive criticism.

If you have the opportunity to experience Dr. Cook as your professor, you will understand my deep appreciation for her ability to impact the lives of all at JWU.
