Four Campuses Hold May 2012 Commencement Ceremonies

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — April 13, 2012 — Johnson & Wales University will award eight honorary doctorate degrees across its four campuses during commencement ceremonies on Thurs., May 17 (graduate) and Sat., May 19 (undergraduate). Recipients have notable reputations in their field and are recognized for their distinguished careers and positive influence on their industries and communities.

Providence Campus

Alan Shawn Feinstein Graduate School
Thurs., May 17 at 6:45 p.m., Providence Performing Arts Center

  • Speaker and Honorary Degree Recipient: Charles Malcolm Cook, Ph.D., senior vice president of University Affairs, Johnson & Wales University, Providence, R.I., will receive an honorary Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership.

The Hospitality College & College of Culinary Arts
Sat., May 19 at 8:45 a.m., Dunkin' Donuts Center

  • Speaker and Honorary Degree Recipient: Michael A. Trangehese, former commissioner of The Big East Conference, Jupiter, Fla., will receive an honorary Doctorate of Business Administration in Sports, Entertainment and Event Management.
  • Honorary Degree Recipient: Daniel Boulud, chef/owner, Restaurant Daniel, New York, N.Y., will receive an honorary Doctorate of Culinary Arts.

College of Business & School of Technology
Sat., May 19 at 2:45 p.m., Dunkin' Donuts Center

  • Speaker and Honorary Degree Recipient: Brian D. Goldner, president and chief executive officer, Hasbro, Inc., Pawtucket, R.I., will receive an honorary Doctorate of Business Administration.

North Miami Campus
Sat., May 19 at 10 a.m., Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center

  • Speaker and Honorary Degree Recipient: Charles Arthur Smith, executive chef, The Art Smith Company, Chicago, Ill., will receive an honorary Doctorate of Culinary Arts.
  • Honorary Degree Recipient: Catherine L. Hughes, founder and chairperson, Radio One, Lanham, Md., will receive an honorary Doctorate of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship.

Denver Campus
Sat., May 19 at 8:45 a.m. (MST), Coors Family Commons

  • Speaker and Honorary Degree Recipient: Tameka Salis Montgomery, executive director, Denver Metro Small Business Development Center (SBDC), Denver, Colo., will receive an honorary Doctorate of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship.

Sat., May 19 at 10 a.m., Time Warner Cable Arena

  • Speaker and Honorary Degree Recipient: Richard A. Ward, co-owner and co-founder, Saintsbury, Napa, Calif., will receive an honorary Doctorate of Oenology.
