Admission Promise Agreement

Colorado Community College to JWU Admission Promise: An Agreement Between Colorado Community College System Students and Johnson & Wales University

Beginning Fall Semester 2012, students attending one of the thirteen colleges in Colorado Community College System — Arapahoe Community College, Colorado Northwestern Community College, Community College of Aurora, Community College of Denver, Lamar Community College, Fort Morgan Community College, Front Range Community College, Northeastern Community College, Otero Junior College, Pikes Peak Community College, Pueblo Community College, Red Rocks Community College, Trinidad State Junior College — may complete an Admission Promise agreement to qualify for automatic admission with junior standing to Johnson & Wales University.

The Admission Promise agreement requires that community college students: 

  1. Begin studies at a Colorado Community College System campus as a first-time freshman (having no transferable college credits earned after graduation from high school or completion of a GED) to work toward an AA or AS degree.
  2. For students enrolling in community college in Fall 2012 and afterward, sign up for the Admission Promise as part of the online application to community college.
  3. Select community college courses from the University articulation agreement for the student’s intended major at the University.
  4. Meet at least once per academic term with their assigned University admissions representative.
  5. Grant permission for University personnel to view/receive their community college transcripts.
  6. Submit a complete application for University admission and apply for AA or AS graduation at the beginning of their final community college semester.
  7. Complete all requested information necessary to complete the admissions application.
  8. Earn a cumulative community college GPA of 2.7 or higher (Note 1).
  9. Be awarded the AA or AS degree prior to matriculating at the University.

Note 1: Applicants seeking admission to a degree program in Culinary Nutrition must meet the admission requirement of a 3.0 GPA and must complete a separate Culinary Nutrition Program Application.
