FAQs
When do I receive my housing assignment? All students who have paid the housing deposit are eligible to take part in the room selection process via our online campus housing system. To do so, you must first complete an application; you may then select a room.
Please note that you must have a working email address registered with the university in order to participate. For the Fall term, assignments are completed on a rolling basis.

Can I pick my own roommate? Yes, it is possible to specify a potential roommate. During the online housing application process, you will have an opportunity to select a specific roommate or match your preferences with one. These requests can only be honored if both students have paid their reservation deposits and if there is space available to meet the specific request.
Do I bring my own bed linens and towels? Yes, the beds are extra-long twin size beds (unfitted regular twin sheets will fit). Also bring a pillow, desk lamp and clothes hangers. Please limit what you bring until you see the size of the room. For a list of items you should (and shouldn’t) bring, take a look at our itemized list of Things to Bring.
What kind of clothes should I bring? Closet and drawer space is limited, so you should bring seasonal clothing. While most students dress casually outside of the classroom, the North Miami Campus requires students to wear uniforms or dress professionally in class, so you will need space for those as well.
Where can I wash my clothes? Each residence hall has a laundry facility in the building.
Can I have an overnight guest? Yes, you may sponsor an overnight guest. However, guests are not permitted in the residence halls past midnight on school nights (i.e. nights when classes will be held). All visitors must present a valid picture ID. Please see the Student Handbook (726K PDF) for more details.
Is there a curfew? There is no curfew, but you must respect “Quiet Hours,” which are from 10pm-8am every day. During these hours, students must be signed in and out in the visitor's log at the residence hall front desk.
What is the university's policy regarding alcohol on campus? Alcohol and other drugs are prohibited on campus, regardless of the drinking age, which in Florida is 21.
May I have a pet in my room? The university does not allow any pets (including fish) in the residence hall.
How do I receive mail? All resident mail and packages should be addressed to P.O. Box 619027, North Miami, Fl 33261. Be sure to include your name, along with your residence hall and room number. If you are being sent a package or other item that cannot be sent to a P.O. Box, please direct the package to: 1701 NE 127th Street, Attn: Flamingo Hall, North Miami, FL 33181.
When do residence halls close during the academic year? December break is the only time the residence halls are officially closed. Halls reopen 24 hours before the first class day after break.
You are required to vacate your rooms within 24 hours of your last exam. Your belongings must be removed before summer break, or within 48 hours of termination of your student status. Anything left behind will be considered abandoned and discarded.
