Events are offered at residence halls throughout the year. They range from the casual — trips, study breaks, movie nights, and floor dinners — to educational and cultural programming on a variety of topics, including sexuality, relationships, safety, career skills, and current events.
Expand your horizons by taking full advantage of programs offered in your area. Let your RA know about any program interests and ideas you might have.
Hall Council Events Make a difference in your hall by becoming a member of your hall council, made up of student volunteers who act as the hall’s leaders and representatives. They play a key role in both community service activities and major campus-wide events such as Homecoming and Battle of the Campus.
Special Interest Housing Programs Each of the Special Interest Housing communities offer specialized programs and events themed around their particular topic of interest. Examples include: nutrition workshops in the Wellness Community, tech résumé writing tips in the Technology Living/Learning Community, and more.
Check with your RA or CA to find out about upcoming special interest housing events.
Community Involvement Projects Residential Life encourages each hall to complete a set number of community service hours every academic year.
By participating in events and volunteer opportunities, you'll bond, learn, broaden your perspective and contribute to the community at large. Sharpen your leadership skills, challenge yourself and make a difference at the same time.
Student Activities Make the most of your time at JWU by getting involved with campus activities. Student Involvement and Leadership oversees a wide range of student-run clubs and organizations, including Greek life, student government, athletics and more.
At the beginning of the year, many on-campus clubs and organizations hold informational meetings. Check for posted announcements to learn about all the exciting things happening regularly in your hall and around campus.
