Become an RA
Resident Assistants (RAs) play a key role in creating an environment for students that is conducive to their academic, personal and social growth.
Each RA lives in a residence hall and acts as a resource for students on his or her floor or area of the building. In addition to developing budget and time management skills, he or she will also gain valuable experience in mediation and emergency response.
The selection process for RAs is held at different times throughout the academic year. Applicants are required to
- Be in good judicial standing.
- Be full-time sophomores, juniors or seniors.
- Maintain a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA.
- Accept a full year appointment with job continuation based on evaluation.
- Have resided in a JWU residence hall for at least two terms.
- Take the RA Leadership Course (LD1001), a 1.5 credit course that will be of no cost to you. If you fail or do not complete this course, you will not be eligible to participate in the RA program.
Download an RA Application (131K PDF). You can also get one from any residence hall's front desk.
