Emmanuil Agrest joined the faculty of Johnson & Wales University in 1993, where he teaches mathematics. Before immigrating to the United States in 1992, he taught at the State University in Sukhumi, where he was also chair of the mathematics department.
Agrest received a Special Merit Award in 2000 and the Publication/Research Award in 2004.
