Wendy Wagner came to Johnson & Wales University in 2003, where she teaches introduction to composition, advanced composition, and introduction to literary genres. She also developed, piloted and taught the Writing Workshop course for students still developing their writing skills. She serves as a departmental reader for the writing skills portion of the Performance Transcript.

Prior to coming to JWU, Wagner taught at the University of Maine at Augusta, Central Maine Community College, Bates College, Pace University, and Duke University. She also served as the Director of Tutorial Services at Pace University.

Wagner has written and presented on African American literature, American women's literature, and feminism and popular culture.
