Claudia Berube joined the faculty of Johnson & Wales in 1984, where she teaches classes in both American and international cuisines, Garde Manger, and stocks and sauces; her specialty is “traditional European with modern interpretation.” She received the College's Service Award in recognition of her work rewriting the basic curriculum in 2003. She was a recipient of the 2006 Vollrath Award, the 2009 Culinary Service Award, and the 2012 Robert M. Nograd Teacher of the Year Award.

Berube came to JWU from The Victorian, an inn in Whitinsville, Mass., where she and her husband ran the kitchen as executive chefs for six years. Prior to that, she was a cook at The Swiss Chalet in Westerly, R.I., and kitchen manager at the Scandinavian Home for the Aged in Cranston, R.I.
