Matthew McConeghy has been at Johnson & Wales University since 1987, and has served as Chair of the Mathematics Department, the Science Department, the Computer Applications Department, and as Acting Director of the School of Technology. He has taught more than 30 different courses in undergraduate and graduate programs in the School of Arts & Sciences and the Hospitality College, in Providence and overseas and currently teaches Environmental Science and History of Science.
In pursuit of his interests in environmental issues McConeghy has traveled widely in the Caribbean and Central America, to Iceland, Hawaii, the Aleutians and other remote areas. For 15 years he has been associated with glaciology projects monitoring rapid climate change in Alaska. In Rhode Island he has studied the history of urbanization in the Providence area, particularly along the Woonasquatucket River.
