Chef Victor Smurro joined the faculty of Johnson & Wales in 1990, where he teaches courses ranging from Foods of the World to Meatcutting. He spent several years at the Charleston, S.C., Campus, and received the Charleston Campus’ Teacher of the Year Award twice, in 1991 and 2000, and the 2002 First Year Teacher Award at the Providence Campus; he was also the recipient of the the 2011 Les Amis d’Escoffier Society Award, and the 2007 and 2008 Culinary Service Awards.

Prior to joining the JWU faculty, Smurro worked as executive sous chef at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, N.C. He owns his own business, Silver Platter Catering,

Smurro is a member of the American Culinary Federation and a Certified Chef de Cuisine.
