Elizabeth S. Covino is an Associate Professor in the Center for Sports, Entertainment and Event Management in The Hospitality College. Covino, a native of New Fairfield, Conn., has been at JWU since 1988. Since 2003, she has served on the Freshman Advising Team, focusing on retention and advising activities. In past years, she has formally served as Dean of Students and the Director of Student Activities within the university. She has expertise in Event Planning, Concert/Performing Arts Management, Facility Management and Leadership Training. She has presented at many conferences and operated her own leadership consulting company, Synergy Associates. Covino came to JWU from Bryant College, where she was the Assistant Director of Student Activities. Prior to this she was involved in Student Activities at University of Connecticut and Framingham State College. She was involved in the Volunteer Recruitment and Training for the X-Games in Providence; she also served as chair for the National Association of Campus Activities Regional Conference. Covino received her master’s degree from Springfield College. She was a Graduate Assistant in Higher Education Administration at Framingham State College, and received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Connecticut. Additionally, she is a Certified Hospitality Educator. In 2007, she was named Faculty of the Year for the Hospitality College. She has received such awards as the Audrey Gaebe Award for women in leadership, the Donald L. McCullough Award for outstanding contributions to the field of campus activities programming, and the New England Region of the National Association of Campus Activities.
