Kris Hefley began his career in research and marketing in 1982 as Director of Research for the Naisbitt Group (John Naisbitt, Megatrends), where he oversaw a number of publications, including the Rocky Mountain Trend Report, the California Trend Report and the Midwest Trend Report. This work included the management of 20 researchers and numerous special research projects like the Southwest Trend Report for General Motors.

In 1986, Hefley started the Present Futures Group, a marketing research firm in Denver specializing in research-based strategic planning and marketing communications. His work with this agency included marketing research in 70 markets and the writing and implementation of eight regional marketing plans.

Hefley continues to serve clients while teaching marketing and marketing research courses in the College of Business.

As a Board of Director of the Business Marketing Association’s Colorado Chapter, Hefley received the National Award of Excellence in the National Chapter Competition for Student Assistance from the Business Marketing Association International. He is on the Board of Directors for the New Denver Ad Club and is the faculty advisor for the JWU student chapter of the American Advertising Federation.

Hefley has conducted numerous seminars at national association conferences and taught classes at the University of Denver, Colorado State University, Regis University and Fort Lewis College.
