Professor Stephen Pyle has been with Johnson & Wales University for 20 years. Starting as an adjunct faculty member in The Hospitality College, Pyle has served in wide variety of faculty and administrative roles.

Known for his ability to start and implement new projects, Pyle has developed over 15 courses, 4 degree programs and 10 concentrations with two colleges across two different campuses.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Academy, he worked closely with the opening team in the development of the Denver Campus. Seeing the potential and seeking a new challenge, he joined the campus as chair of The Hospitality College the following year.

Building the MBA Program
His extensive university and industry networks make him an ideal candidate to facilitate the MBA cohort. His goal is to connect graduate faculty with Denver Campus-based students and industry professionals to develop a rich and meaningful learning environment.

He will work closely with the MBA students to help ensure continuity of their educational experience and provide a “face” for the program on the Denver Campus. This high touch focus will help students maximize their campus connection, but still allow for the benefits of our blended delivery model.

Expanding the Hospitality College
Pyle oversees all programming in Food & Beverage Management, Hotel Management, Restaurant Management and Sports Entertainment Event Management. He has taught courses in all three disciplines.

He was instrumental in developing a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation/Leisure Management and course concentrations in Golf Management, Resort Management, and Commercial Recreation and Sports Management.

As an active member of the International Association of Assembly Managers, he serves as advisor to the JWU Student Chapter of IAAM.

He has received The Hospitality College Teacher of the Year Award.
