Robert Gable brings diverse educational experience to Johnson & Wales University, from his roles as director of Research at the Leadership Research Institute to director of JWU’s Educational Leadership Doctoral Program.

Gable taught Educational Psychology (Research Methodology) and was director of the Bureau of Educational Research & Service at University of Connecticut, where he is a professor emeritus. He specializes in Educational Research Methodology (Quantitative & Qualitative), Survey Development and Administration, Program Evaluation and Needs Assessment. His research focuses on Affective Instrument Development, Self Efficacy and Attitude Measurement, Program Evaluation and Needs Assessment Methodology.

Gable’s awards include the Leo D. Doherty Award for outstanding leadership and service and the Distinguished Mentor Award, both from the Northeastern Educational Research Association. He has also received the University of Connecticut Alumni Association Excellence in Teaching Award and the outstanding journal “Article of the Year” award (with Yuhang Rong) in The Journal of College and University Student Housing.

Gable is a member of the American Educational Research Association, Northeastern Educational Research Association, National Council on Measurement in Education, New England Educational Research Organization and American Evaluation Association. He has presented at the Council for Exceptional Children, and served on the Editorial Board of Educational Research Quarterly for twelve years.
