“A regular cubicle, skirt and pumps job just isn’t for me, ” says JWU student Bianca. “My goal in life is to be happy with what I do.” So her MTV Iggy internship turned out to be the perfect fit.My MTV InternshipBy Bianca Francois ‘12From Englewood, New Jersey
My major:Sports/Entertainment/Event Management
My internship:Production management internMTV Iggy, a branch of Viacom Media Networks dedicated to bringing global music to America
What I Did I assisted directors, producers and managers with:
I also helped out with fun errands, office projects and documenting expenses.
My 5 Tips for an SEE Internship Here's my advice:
1. Treat your internship like a job.2. Always ask questions.
3. Create a network.
4. Keeping organized is very important. When dealing with expense forms and receipts, it is important to pay attention to details and dates.
5. Communication is key. There are often multiple projects happening at once. The MTV Iggy staff has it down to a science. Whether it’s via text, email or even social media, they make sure to keep each other in the loop with details and project benchmarks.
My Most Exciting Project Working for an Of Monsters and Men concert, at the Angel Orensanz Foundation, one of the oldest surviving gothic–revival synagogues in NYC.
It was truly one of the best concerts I have ever worked or been to. It was perfect for the 1930s speak-easy themed event. Nearly everyone dressed for the theme including the band.
