A New Century of InnovationAs Johnson & Wales University (JWU) celebrates its centennial in 2014, we commemorate our long-standing stature as an innovative leader in higher education. What was once a small local secretarial school has grown to a national university attracting students from nearly 150 countries.
While experiential learning becomes increasingly prevalent, Johnson & Wales has always believed in the power of combining a strong, experience-based foundation and the intellectual rigor of the liberal arts. Our unique education model integrates arts and sciences and industry-focused education with work experience, community and leadership opportunities, and career services.
As Johnson & Wales moves into a new century, our strategic planning accomplishments will make it the foremost university offering relevant education that inspires professional success and lifelong personal growth. This will solidify JWU’s status as a leader whose higher education is recognized as an effective 21st-century model.

Centennial Graphic StandardsThe JWU centennial logo reflects the university’s traditions and identity as it enters a new century of innovation. The logo’s full color version is used against a white background and can only be paired with JWU blue (PMS 662) color blocks or with a gray ghosted crest.
It can also be used as one color (either blue or black) on a white background. For specialty items only (i.e., apparel, bookstore items), the centennial logo can be used as a white knockout on a dark color background.
The centennial logo is a stand-alone alternative to the university logo. It cannot be used on the same face as the university logo.
The centennial logo must be used in its entirety. It cannot bleed off the page. It also cannot be used vertically.
Using the Centennial LogoIn addition to the full-color centennial logo (at right), also shown are the appropriate black and white and “knock-out” reversed white versions for JWU’s Centennial logo.
Full Color Logo: This version is to be used (preferably) on white backgrounds only. In certain instances, a very light background will be acceptable, and would require approval by JWU’s Creative Services Group.
Black and White Logo: The black and white logo is to be used only on certain specialty items requiring a positive template for producing embossed, frosted or ghosted effects. It is also acceptable for print use when color printing is not available.
Knock-out (reversed white) Logo: This version is to be used mainly on dark colored backgrounds.
