Types of Aid
After Johnson & Wales University receives your completed FAFSA information from the federal processor, we can then begin to determine your financial aid award. Your award letter will list the types and amounts of financial aid you are eligible to receive for the academic year. Financial aid award letters are generated beginning in late March for newly admitted students and in mid-April for returning students.
There are three categories of federal student aid: grants, work-study and loans. In addition to federal aid, you may be eligible for financial aid from other sources, such as state grants, private scholarship, or institutional funding.
Please contact the State Grant Authority in your state to determine if you may qualify for a state grant. Please keep in mind each state has a FAFSA filing deadline. Most deadlines are as early as March 1.
2009-2010 Preferred Lender List (59K PDF)
Beginning in the 2009-10 academic year, most lenders will be selling the loans guaranteed under the Family Federal Education Loan Program (Subsidized Stafford, Unsubsidized Stafford and PLUS loans) to the Department of Education. Lenders will notify borrowers once they have sold the loan(s). As necessary, please consult with your lender as to which loans have been sold and work with the Department of Education upon graduation to consolidate the loans you have borrowed.
