This course is the first six weeks of a Student Teaching experience. Student Teaching is a seventeen week supervised classroom experience in an accredited secondary school with a reimbursed career and technical education program in business/marketing and/or consumer and family studies. The Student Teacher brings to the experience competency in all areas of subject matter, an understanding of adolescent growth and development, teaching strategies and procedures, knowledge of the Colorado Model Content standards and classroom management that will enhance the teaching setting. The Student Teacher will provide increasing responsibility for the instruction, assessment, supervision and co-curricular activities of an identified group of learners in grades 9-12. The Student Teacher will work with the Professional Development Team consisting of the Cooperating Teacher, the University Liaison and the Principal to set expectations, goals, giving feedback, developing self-reflection and evaluation. For the Student Teacher, this requires forming habits of continuous analysis of teaching and its effects on student learning. Regularly scheduled observations by Cooperating Teacher and the University Liaison are part of the student teaching requirement. Teacher candidates must complete a teacher work sample (TWS) and be rated as proficient in all Performance Based Standards for Colorado Teachers to receive a recommendation for licensure and credentialing.

This course is the five week second part of a Student Teaching experience.
