Description Charlotte Rescue Mission provides free Christian residential recovery programs to men who are addicted to drugs and alcohol (90 day program for the men and a 120 day program for the women.) The rehabilitation program includes the 12 step programs of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous identifying Jesus Christ as the higher power.

Service Opportunities **SORRY NO OPPORTUNITIES FOR SPRING TERM** Service Opportunities Please note that when selecting this site you have to be open to doing any of the volunteer activities and weekend opportunities are not available! Meal Preparation/Servers: Assist the kitchen crew with preparing, serving and clean-up for lunch and/or dinner. Lunch time volunteers are needed 10 am until 12 pm and dinner time volunteers from 4 pm until 6 pm on limited weekdays only. Recipe/Menu planners: We are looking for students to create simple recipes for our kitchen staff and volunteer groups. This includes writing out a complete step by step guide including quantities for preparing a meal for 140 residents. Office/Administrative tasks: We have various office tasks such as filing, data entry, making thank you calls, writing thank you notes, etc. GED Tutors: Help residents work toward getting their GED in a class sponsored by CPCC on Monday and Wednesday evenings between 5:30 and 8pm.

Volunteers are needed on weekdays (Mon-Fri) only. 1-2 Meal Servers are needed on limited weekdays from 10 – 12 pm for lunch and 4 – 6 pm for dinner (schedule varies week by week and fills up quickly, you must schedule meals at least one week in advance); Recipe planning and Office/Administrative tasks can be done Monday-Friday between 9 am & 4pm in 1 to 3 hour shifts. 1-3 GED tutors are needed on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30-8pm in 1-2.5 hour shifts.

Special Requirements Special Requirements: Students must be available to volunteer on weekdays (Monday-Friday). Our meal schedule fills up very quickly. Students must be willing to assist with other assignments if the meal schedule is full.

Directions Driving/Walking Directions from Johnson & Wales University, 801 West Trade Street, Charlotte, NC, 28202: Go past the JWU Residence Halls on S. Cedar Street, heading toward the new Student Center and Panthers Practice Field. Turn right onto W. 1st Street, there will be a sign at the corner for Charlotte Rescue Mission. It is the second (middle) brick building on the left, enter door for visitors check-in. Limited parking is available on the street, but it's only about a 5-minute walk from campus! Public Transportation Options from the Charlotte campus: Public transportation is not necessary; Charlotte Rescue Mission is within walking distance from the school, less than two blocks.
