Description Little Sugar Creek Greenway community garden in the Belmont neighborhood. The garden is part of a national gardening program to provide fresh, organically grown food and serve as a teaching facility where citizens can learn the benefits of earth-friendly compost gardening. This community service opportunity comes via a partnership with Mecklenburg County Solid Waste-Waste Reduction program, an educational program designed to encourage people to reduce, recycle, and reuse products instead of sending them to the landfill.

Service Opportunities Upkeep of the community garden by providing planting, composting, soil amendments, weeding and harvesting of plants.

Available community service days and times Saturdays 8a-12noon, alternating Fridays 12:30-3pm (Dates to be announced).

Special Requirements Willing to do physical work, not afraid to get hands or shoes dirty. Please remember to wear working clothes: jeans, work boots or substantial shoes, long sleeved shirts, jackets/gloves/hats during cold weather.
