Financial management opportunities for continuing education and senior level cooperative education opportunities are discussed as factors in assessing one's career plan. For students graduating with an A.S. degree, Career Planning prepares them for the employment process. Career Management Capstone For all students graduating with a Bachelor's Degree, Career Management Capstone provides prospective graduates with a focus on reviewing specific employer competencies and developing targeted portfolio entries in their Career Passport System. Students learn candidate recruitment and selection processes, including the impact of pre-employment tests and background checks, credit ratings, and drug tests that take place during the selection process. Through a process of needs assessment, students select suitable employment tracks for their job search. Other topics include financial responsibility, life planning and career management, development of job search tools (resume--paper and electronic, cover letters, and portfolios), and identification of job search strategies. The On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) Program, independent job search strategies and Internet job recruiting programs (erecruiting.com) are used to access a wide variety of job opportunities. Graduate Survey All graduates must complete a graduate survey prior to leaving campus. This survey is required in order to receive a diploma. The responses from the survey are used to determine the level of Career Development Office assistance that is required each trimester and to assist each individual in a pro-active approach to employer recruitment. Copies can be faxed to 303-256-9381 or hand-delivered to the Career Development Office, School of Arts & Sciences, 3rd Floor. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this process, please contact the Office Coordinator at 303-256-9790. |
