denver campus

Welcome to Johnson & Wales University, Denver Campus, home of the Wildcats!

All of us on campus are eager to help you begin your college journey. Each year a new class joins our family and creates a unique experience and legacy of their own. Whether it’s student organizations, athletics, or a distinguished academic career—Johnson & Wales University has something for everyone and the resources to support you in reaching your success.

We look forward to having you become an active member of the university community. Going to college will bring many changes to your life, and the entire university community has rallied in efforts of supporting your success. The Week of Welcome, better known as WOW, is designed with making your transition to campus life smoother.

WOW begins at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5th in the University Event Center with Wildcat check in, residence hall check in, and a campus wide get to know you event. On Saturday, September 6th you will be inducted into the scholarly community of Johnson & Wales with the inscription of your name in the President’s book at the campus matriculation ceremony. This is followed by your first historic walk through the Robert E. Taylor Gates to be honored and enjoyed by all at Convocation. After Convocation you will get the first glance of your intended major with your college-specific orientation, followed by a discussion of your summer reading assignment. Sunday, September 7th greets you with one of WOW’s signature events, an Urban Safari that will help you become better acquainted with the metro-Denver area. Monday, September 8th has more fun-filled experiences aimed at your transition to university life concluding with the Student Government Association’s annual and very memorable Campus Life Supershow. This is only the beginning! The entire rest of the week is filled with events geared at helping you create the best university experience in Colorado.

Along your WOW path you will be guided by experienced and well trained students, including WOW Group Leaders and Resident Assistants. Your WOW groups allow you to meet in small cohorts and have your questions answered while you connect with other new students. Your RA will further provide you with additional support and serve as a resource and confidante for you all year long.

Feel free to encourage your parent(s), guardian(s), or other family member(s) to attend the first day and a half of WOW. Special sessions for family members will be provided if you did not get a chance to attend a summer orientation, and numerous opportunities will be provided to meet campus staff and faculty. Families will have the chance to learn about the exciting opportunities available to you during your time at our university. Other events such as a Campus BBQ and Denver Family Association sponsored Dessert Reception will only increase their enthusiasm for your attendance at Johnson & Wales.

We look forward to seeing you on Friday, September 5th!

Sincerely,
Denise Kupetz, Director Student Affairs
Brian Novak, Director Campus Activities
