Comptuer Labs
The Denver Campus has seven computer labs that are run by the Technical
Services Department. Staff members are available in these computer
labs to help students and answer questions. Students need an
active JWU email account to access the computers. Hours of Operation
are posted in each location.
Locations:
College of Business (located in the Library): Lab 1, Lab 2, Lab
3
College of Culinary Arts: C100, C101
School of Education: E102, E103
Z Drive
Student Data Storage: Each student will be allotted 10mb
of data storage on the University’s student File server. Every
time you log on to a PC in a lab or classroom on campus, the Z: drive
will be automatically mapped. Your Z: drive can only be accessed
by you, and should be used to store projects, papers, and assignments
that you can retrieve while in any lab or classroom on the Denver
campus. The data is only available from the computer lab machines;
it can't be accessed from home, ResNet, or the web
Please do not store illegal or illegally obtained/copyrighted material on your
Z Drive.
Flash Drives
We recommend you purchase a USB flash drive for transporting
documents to off site locations where you do not have access to
your Z: drive and holding larger files. They are reasonably priced,
are more reliable, and hold a lot more than a floppy disk. USB
drives are available for purchase in the bookstore. Remember to
back up your Flash drive in case of failure or loss. Wireless
Johnson & Wales has implemented wireless hotspots for students
throughout the campus. You will need a WiFi compliant wireless
card and an active JWU email account to access the Internet
in these areas:
College of Business: All public spaces—common
rooms, classrooms and group study rooms.
Wildcat Athletic Center:
All public spaces—common rooms
and group study rooms.
When you have your notebook computer in a "hot
spot" area,
you will simply need to activate your wireless card and then select/activate/connect
to the JWU WiFi network (see your particular notebook computer
or wireless card user manual for instructions). Then, start your
Internet browser and it will ask you to log in (with your JWU
account ID and password).
ResNet

the University’s Residential Network from the Residence
