About JWU

At Johnson & Wales University, we prepare you for personal and professional success. Our pioneering educational model of combining academics, hands-on training, work experience tied to a field of study, leadership opportunities and career development has made JWU a recognized leader in career education.

Established in 1992, the North Miami Campus has grown to include more than 1,900 students from 41 states and 41 countries, enrolled in our College of Business, College of Culinary Arts and The Hospitality College. Just north of Miami’s downtown and South Beach — and just south of Ft. Lauderdale — our campus is located within a cultural and design mecca, and hub of international business.

At JWU, you’re a name, not a number. Our industry-experienced faculty bring real-life experience, hands-on learning and networking opportunities into small classroom settings, where you’ll learn the knowledge and skills which employers have identified as necessary for career success. Through immersion in industry practices, experiential learning and industry-specific software, we prepare you to both hit the ground running and to realize your long-term career goals.

Unlike other universities, at JWU you’ll take courses in your major from day one so you’ll know right away if that field is right for you. In addition, a dedicated faculty advisor and academic coach will help you develop the best possible career plan to further your goals. And through our specialized career courses, you’ll build your resume showing the areas you’ve mastered, and graduate with a portfolio of your work that’ll set you apart from the rest.

Our North Miami Campus is a self-contained community just steps from the shops, restaurants and commerce of Biscayne Boulevard. Centralized classrooms and services in a palm-lined setting make for casual camaraderie. Between our range of recreational and professional clubs and organizations, student government, special events and leadership programs, there’s a variety of ways to get involved.

We also offer team and intramural athletics, a workout facility with pool, organized outdoor adventures and weekly trips to the beach, movies, theatre, and Miami Heat and Dolphins games in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area.
