Providence, RI freshman focus Freshmen are assigned a faculty advisor upon entering the college. The instructor of their introductory course (FM1001, HM1001, TT1001, or SF1001) will become their first year advisor. Six individuals have been chosen as members of the advising team for the graduating class of 2007. Their role is to provide academic counsel relating to career choice, class scheduling, and other academic issues. To contact them directly, refer to the list below. For extensions, dial 401-598 + ext
sophomore students After the completion of the freshman year, a sophomore academic coach will contact students during their sophomore year. The role of a sophomore academic coach is to provide accurate timely academic and career advice relating specifically to internship opportunities, concentration choices, students course planning, bachelor degree options, and the use of hospitality electives. Students will be contacted by one of these individuals during either internship experience or, for SF majors, in one of the following classes during the sophomore year: FM2026, HM3080, SH3045 or HM2030.
junior/senior students At the completion of the sophomore year, students should then contact the appropriate faculty academic coach for ANY additional advising assistance. concentration coach The role of a concentration coach is to provide in-depth information and career counseling relating to concentration choice, co-op and externship opportunities, appropriate industry trade affiliations and publications, leading employers (both national and international) and graduate degree programs, refer to The Hospitality College Concentration Brochure for a complete listing of concentration choices and junior/senior year academic coaches. SEE majors only (junior or senior year) externship coordinator The role of the externship coordinator is to provide externship placement at suitable venues and with appropriate employers.
