All students are covered under the Johnson and Wales University Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan. Please review the insurance pamphlet with the participating student for medical coverage details. Through participation in this plan, each insured student is eligible for global emergency medical assistance provided by On Call International. Should the student be covered by another primary insurance provider, the JWU insurance is considered supplemental, but the On Call International services still apply.
Key On Call International services include:
• Medical Consultation, Evaluation and Referral
• Hospital Admission Guarantee
• Emergency Medical Evacuation
• Critical Care Monitoring
• Medically Supervised Repatriation
• Prescription Assistance
• Emergency Message Transmission
• Transportation to Join Patient
• Care for Minor Children
• Return of Mortal Remains
• Emergency Trauma Counseling
• Lost Luggage or Document Assistance
• Interpreter and Legal Referrals
On Call International is not travel or medical insurance but a service provider for emergency medical assistance services. All medical costs incurred should be submitted to the health plan and are subject to the policy limits of your health coverage. All assistance services must be arranged and provided by On Call International in advance of receiving services.
Additional Traveler’s Insurance: The JWU medical coverage does not include traveler’s insurance to cover non-medical emergencies such as lost luggage, cancelled flights, or theft. Please consult your travel agent for suggested non-medical travel insurance. We do encourage you to purchase international flights that allow for cancellation should you get sick prior to departure or flights that can be changed to accommodate changing personal travel plans.
