NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – May 11, 2007 – Hospitality students from Johnson & Wales University's North Miami Campus will partner with local hospitality professionals to herald the benefits of the tourism industry in two events during National Tourism Week.

On Monday, May 14, from 8 to 11 a.m., a team of hospitality students will join the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau to welcome visitors flying into Miami International Airport. William D. Talbert, III, CDME, GMCVB president and chief executive officer will lead the team of current and soon-to-be travel professionals. The ambassadors will walk throughout the main terminal and concourses at the airport to welcome visitors arriving to Miami with light-up luggage tags to thank them for visiting the destination.

On Tuesday, May 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., students from the Destinations Management class will host an on-campus trade show for the community, students, staff and faculty. The students will be working with industry partners like Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau and Greater Ft. Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau to convey this year's theme, which is America's Front Door.

"Tourism is Miami's No. 1 industry, supporting more than 103,000 jobs," Talbert said.  "World class customer service is a top priority for the visitor industry and key to the continued success of our destination. We are delighted that the hospitality students from Johnson & Wales University share our commitment to customer service and are eager to welcome and thank visitors for contributing to our local economy."
