North Miami Campus Culinary Dean Wins North Miami, Fla. – May 18, 2007 – Johnson & Wales University's North Miami Campus Dean of Culinary Arts Education, Bruce Ozga, was named Southeast Region Chef Educator of the Year by the American Culinary Federation (ACF). Ozga received the honor from the ACF, the largest professional chefs' organization in North America at its April 29 – May 1 Southeastern Regional Conference in Nashville. Now Ozga will compete against three other regional winners at the 2007 ACF National Convention in Orlando, Fla., July 21-24. Part of the competition will require Ozga and other contestants to perform a demonstration in front of a panel of national judges. "The American Culinary Federation is the largest and most distinguished organization for culinary arts professionals in North America," said Campus President Donald G. McGregor. "The university is proud that one of our most dedicated and talented culinary arts educators has been honored by such an outstanding group of professionals." Ozga has more than 25 years experience in the food service industry and has been with Johnson & Wales University since 1997. He joined the university as a faculty member and later became assistant director of culinary education at the North Miami Campus. He then took a position as dean of culinary education at the university's Denver Campus before becoming dean of culinary education back in North Miami in 2005. In his current position, Ozga is responsible for supporting the overall mission of the College of Culinary Arts and providing leadership with direct oversight of budget, staff and academic programs and to ensure the quality of the educational programs.
