Belly Dance Comes to The Hospitality College at Charlotte Campus CHARLOTTE, N.C. – February 5, 2008 – When you think "hospitality," you may think of service at your favorite hotel or restaurant. But on Thursday, Feb. 7, some Johnson & Wales University students will get a unique look at hospitality, through dance. Belly dance is a Western name for an Arabic style of dance developed in the Middle East. The belly dance is identified by swaying hips, undulating torso and articulated isolations employed in a range of dynamic and emotional expressions. Swaying hips, meet HOSP 4020 managing cultural differences class. Hanaa Osman, assistant professor, is bringing belly dance instructors from the Jewish Community Center into her class to introduce the students to this Middle Eastern Culture and how different cultures celebrate using dance and music. The instructors will provide a lecture and dance on Thursday, February 7 from 9:30 – 11 a.m. in the University Events Center.
