Providence Campus' School of Technology To Host PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Feb. 6, 2008 – Johnson & Wales University's School of Technology will soon be hosting its first Distinguished Visiting Professor (DVP). On Feb. 12 design innovator Gianfranco Zaccai, president and CEO of Continuum, a Boston-based design consultancy, will speak to faculty, staff and students at Xavier Auditorium. Zaccai may not be a household name, but his firm is responsible for the development of such well-known products as Swiffer® mops and wipes, the Reebok™ "pump" sneaker, and the Moen® PureTouch filtering faucet system. While innovation is essential in any field, Zaccai believes that any product requires three components in order to be successful: it must be appealing to consumers, it must be technologically feasible, and, finally, it must be economically viable. His process for finding appropriate innovation and making it real will be the subject of his presentation. The lecture and discussion will begin at 9:30 a.m. and is open to the public with reserved seating. For more information, call 598-2500.
