Launches The Inventing Life Series

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – February 26, 2007 – Got a new product idea? The Rhode Island Small Business Development Center, housed at Johnson & Wales University, has announced a new series designed for individuals and companies who want to innovate effectively and on a budget.

The Inventing Life Series is the how-to companion to the book "The Inventing Life – an inside look at what it takes to turn good ideas into real products," by Elizabeth M. Pierotti who will be presenting the series along with guest experts in market research, focus groups, contract and intellectual property law, business planning, marketing, engineering, prototypes and samples, manufacturing, and more.

The series will take place on Tuesdays beginning March 6 through April 24 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. The fee is $450 per attendee and includes the book plus class workbook and materials. The series will be held at Johnson & Wales University, Taco Building, Room 416, located at 10 Abbott Park Place, Providence, R.I. The sequence of courses is: 1). Starting out on a path success, 2). Conducting market/customer research, 3). Developing your new product idea, 4). Protecting your proprietary ideas, 5). Choosing the optimum business model, 6). Preparing prototypes and presentations, 7). Lanning for business and investors, and 8). Establishing relationships that work.

Elizabeth Pierotti is an experienced inventor, strategic product developer, and project director specializing in consumer goods for the sports and fitness industry. Pierotti has designed and developed product innovations on behalf of Fortune 500 companies, distributors, retailers and individual inventors. Her clients include Reebok International, Speedo America, International Marine Industries and Toys 'R Us.

The Rhode Island Small Business Development Center is administered by Johnson & Wales University in a partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration, the RI Economic Development Corporation, and the private sector. The Center is a resource partner of the Every Company Counts initiative.
