Providence Campus Professor Honored for Work at
Central FallsCalcutt Middle School

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Feb. 29, 2008 – Johnson & Wales University Professor Rory Senerchia has been awarded a 2007-2009 Faculty Fellowship for Youth grant from the Rhode Island and Massachusetts Campus Compacts for her work with the Calcutt Middle School in Central Falls.

Senerchia is one of seven faculty members across Rhode Island and Massachusetts to receive a two-year Faculty Fellowship for Youth grant. The fellowship is designed to encourage faculty to grow as leaders and campus organizers. Over the next two years, the Fellows will receive $5,000 to build upon and grow service-learning opportunities for JWU students enrolled in Communications Skills classes. Senerchia has been with JWU for 5 years teaching in the English Department.   

The Faculty Fellowship program between Rhode Island and Massachusetts Campus Compacts is part of a joint Learn and Serve America Higher Education grant focusing on areas of youth development and the opportunities that exist for access to high quality K-12 education, comprehensive after-school activities and the pathways to post secondary education.
