"Bill has brought a distinct level of professionalism and commitment to his role with Johnson & Wales," Dr. Irving Schneider, president of the Providence Campus says. "We are very proud of his participation with the ASJA and delighted that his experience can impact more universities through the U.S. and Canada." Fischer joined Johnson & Wales in 2005. His primary responsibilities are to oversee the administration of the student conduct and conflict resolution system and to provide leadership in the development and implementation of the Division of Student Affairs’ Risk Management Program at the Providence Campus. "I am excited to mark the beginning of ASJA’s next 20 years," Fischer notes. "specifically, I see us enhancing outreach efforts so that we can continue to grow and involve diverse colleges and universities. I look forward to expanding our recognition so that we can impart our experience and knowledge to others who are as committed to student development and higher education." ASJA offers a wealth of insight and information to professionals, parents, educators and the public through its website at www.asjaonline.org. It will host its annual Summer Academy, the Donald D. Gehring Academy for Student Conduct Administrators, this June 20-23 at the University of Utah, in Salt Lake City. The Academy provides a comprehensive professional development experience for student conduct administrators in higher education. Conducted over four full days, the Academy curriculum offers four programs from which to choose. Each program is highly interactive combining theory and practical application supplemented by informal reflection with colleagues and faculty. The four programs include: the Training Institute, Advance Seminar, Mediation I & II, and a Law & Policy Seminar for graduate students. "This is an exciting time for ASJA as the organization continues to grow," Billye Potts, executive director, ASJA notes. "We are expanding our programs, partnerships and resources. I look forward to working with Bill and his vision for the future of ASJA as we move into our next 20 years."
