Providence Campus to Help Local Businesses Fill Part-Time Needs

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – August 6, 2007 – If you run a business in the local region, it's time to flip the "help wanted" sign to a "be right back" sign. That's because Johnson & Wales University will host a Part-Time Job Fair on Friday, Sept. 21, 2007 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for its undergraduate and graduate students.

The Job Fair has been created so that local businesses can meet, interview and potentially hire the University's students who are looking to supplement their incomes and gain experience while attending college.

"We're proud to work with Rhode Island employers who recognize the value that our students can provide to their businesses," says Sheri Ispir, Director of Career Development. "While the University focuses on providing the tools needed to develop a successful career, we also recognize the importance of part-time employment. It's good for our students, and good for business in Southern New England."

An estimated 1,000 students, from all majors offered at the University, will participate at the Job Fair. Johnson & Wales is known widely for its culinary and hospitality programs, but its business, technology, and graduate degree programs are equally relevant in today's global economy.

Businesses that want to participate can request registration materials by email or by contacting Krista Segner at 401-598-1456 or Price Mason at 401-598-4602. Space is limited and the deadline for registration is Fri., Sept. 7. A fee of $100 will provide booth space, display table and chairs, and general job applications, along with lunch for two employers from each company.
