Johnson & Wales believes in the philosophy "learn by doing". Students are trained at a variety of facilities that are University-owned or -operated.

practicum training facilities

radisson airport hotel, located in Warwick, RI, near T.F.Green State Airport, is a University-owned corporate franchise hotel, offering training to interns in food service and lodging operations.

gladding's is the University's women's specialty retail store located in The Arcade in downtown Providence. Students enrolled in majors offered through the Center for Fashion Merchandising & Retail Studies within the School of Creative Marketing learn facets of front- and back-of-the-house retail facility operations.

johansson's bakery cafe is the International Baking & Pastry Institute's® retail store, located on the first floor of The Arcade in downtown Providence. Here, students gain valuable first-hand experience in production, retail selection, retail sales, marketing and merchandising of high quality pastries and baked goods.

johnson & wales inn, located in nearby Seekonk, MA, provides culinary and hotel interns with valuable experience in all areas of hotel operations. Culinary and hotel interns are also exposed to foodservice operations in Audrey's restaurant and in banquet and room service departments.

university information booth, in the T.F. Green State Airport, helps travelers to Rhode Island find their way to the state's best attractions. Staffed by J&W Travel-Tourism students, this practicum facility serves the public in a unique way.

equine center, a Johnson & Wales-owned stable in Rehoboth, MA, is where equine students study horse care and management. Owned by the University, it also offers limited space for students to board their own horses.

practicum dining facilities

chestnut's, a bustling student center, is an opportunity for Culinary internship students to learn restaurant operations in a fast-paced atmosphere.

pine street coffee house, university club, new club are other private Johnson & Wales dining facilities, located in the John Hazen White Center on Pine Street.

cafe commons, at the Harborside Campus, provides culinary students with valuable experience in food service production.

airport center east (ACE), located in Warwick, RI, offers a diverse menu of selections daily, including ethnic theme meals.

hospitality center, at the Harborside Campus, is a quantity-food facility, serving a wide variety of fresh food daily.

edmund hospitality, our newest dining hall in East Providence serves breakfast, a quick service deli and pizza menu for dinner.

snowden, on the Downcity campus located within Snowden Hall. Snowden offers a wide variety of made-to-order stations, pizza and sandwiches, grill items, traditional and speciality lines etc.

other facilities

johnson & wales university culinary archives & museum, is an educational resource for Johnson & Wales University, the community at-large, food scholars and the food service industry. The CA&M seeks to both preserve and interpret the broad culinary and hospitality heritage addressed by the University. It is a showcase for the work of students, faculty, alumni and distinguished visiting chefs. Through exhibitions and special events, the museum strives to interpret the evolution of food preparation and presentation, the development of culinary equipment and technology, the diverse menus offered and the places where people partake of food. the larry friedman international center for entrepreneurship houses a new business incubator and the Center's venture capital fund. Students and successful business people gather here to create the next great business idea.

university bookstores, operated by Barnes & Noble College Bookstores, Inc., are also training facilities for Retailing and Fashion Merchandising students to learn about catalog operations and merchandising.
