sailing team battles weather In other news, the sailing team competed at Roger Williams on Sunday, October 26th. Once again the Wildcats were up against RWU (two teams), URI, Williams, Coast Guard and Amherst. In the first race of the day J&W had a great start and were the first one around the first mark, first around the second mark and first around the third mark (out of 4 marks) and then all heck broke loose...the wind was blowin' at 30+knots and the entire fleet with the exception of URI capsized! The Wildcats got righted and were instructed to sail to the dock and de-rig the boat, we were done for the day. The other teams were not as lucky, the Williams team was almost under the Mt Hope Bridge, and one of their team members got separated from the boat and was over 100 yards away for the boat when the committee boat finally got to her. The remaining teams would right their boats and they would go right back over, after almost 45 minutes of mayhem, all the teams were safe on the dock and calling it quits. Overall it was a great showing by a young Wildcats' sailing team.
