By clicking "accept" below and completing the summer housing application form, you understand and agree to the following terms. Summer Housing Terms & Conditions 1. A student who fails to occupy their assigned room by the first day of summer session/Advanced Standing classes will FORFEIT his/her assignment to a particular room unless a written application providing sufficient cause for retention of the assignment is submitted and approved beforehand by the Director of Residential Life. The student will be held to the contract and room and board or apartment charges for the entire summer session as long as he/she is a registered, active student at the University. 2. This Summer Housing Contract takes effect upon clicking “accept” below and is applicable to the 2008 Summer/Advanced Standing sessions. Students must be enrolled in summer classes, the Advanced Standing program, and/or be employed by the University for the entire summer in order to reside in University summer housing. Students who fail to retain active summer employment or enrollment status at the University must vacate University housing within 24 hours of termination or withdrawal. As long as you are enrolled in summer session or Advanced Standing classes, you will be responsible for payment for the entire applicable summer session, regardless of any decision on your part to occupy your assigned room or to utilize the University dining facilities for whatever reason, voluntary or involuntary. The refund policy for students who officially withdraw from the University is stated in the Student Handbook. 3. The University reserves the right to reassign student rooms or to change a room’s capacity at any time during the summer. The University also reserves the right to remove students from the residence hall, especially those who, by their behavior, have exhibited disregard for the residential community; for the terms and conditions of residence hall occupancy; or for other University rules and regulations. The University may terminate this agreement and take possession of the room at any time for violations of the Student Code of Conduct as prescribed in the Student Handbook and Connections: Guide to On-Campus Living. If a violation results in a student’s suspension or dismissal from housing, the student is required to pay room and board or apartment charges for the remainder of the session during which the suspension/dismissal takes effect. 4. If a vacancy occurs in any room, the remaining student(s) in that room agree(s) to accept a new occupant at any time to fill the existing vacancy. Behavior that discriminates against a newly assigned occupant will be considered sufficient grounds for reassigning the existing occupant(s) or removing said occupants from the residence hall. Such determination will be made at the discretion of the Director of Residential Life. Removal from the residence hall will not exempt the student(s) from previously incurred rental and damage fees. 5. I understand and accept that Johnson & Wales University does not discriminate unlawfully on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or disability in admission to, access to, treatment of, or employment in its programs and activities. 6. The University may terminate this agreement and take possession of the room at any time for violation of the provisions herein or upon recommendation. 7. Rooms must be vacated BY NOON of the day after your final summer session exam or within 24 hours of termination of your student or summer employment status. 8. Johnson & Wales University is not responsible for damages to or loss of your personal property. I agree to pay all applicable summer room & board or apartment charges and to abide by the rules and regulations of the University as contained in the Student Handbook and prescribed in the rules and regulations of Residential Life.
