patrol Campus Safety & Security uses three patrol methods. Foot and vehicle
patrol methods are utilized 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, bicycle
patrol is also used (weather permitting).
foot Officers who are walking
around the campuses patrolling and interacting with students, faculty
and staff.
bicycle Similar to foot patrol,
these officers are mobile and patrol on bicycles
vehicle Cover both campuses and
the outlying areas, these patrols also assist students with medical
transports. Two vehicle patrols are on at all times.
crime alerts are published in the Campus Herald on a bi-weekly
basis. Any incidents that require immediate notification to the
University Community are posted in administrative and academic
buildings, residence halls, and other gathering places. These alerts
are intended to inform the University Community about criminal
activity and assist in making a safer environment for all. Annual
crime statistics are maintained and available in the safety & security
report (PDF).
project id is a service provided by the Department to aid
the University Community in the recovery of lost or stolen items.
Valuables are engraved with a unique number and are entered into
a database with the owner's information, so when items are recovered
the property can be returned. Anyone with questions or are interested
in this service should contact the Crime
Prevention Unit or call 598-2947.
in case of emergency (ICE) In an emergency, time is critical
and getting answers FAST could mean the difference between life
and death. ICE: In Case of Emergency
allows emergency service providers and public safety personnel to
get answers quickly when you are incapacitated.
safe walk student escort service available on the Downcity Campus Sunday through Saturday from 6pm to 12am. Call Security at (401) 598-1103 to arrange an escort.
lost & found is a service provided in which lost items are
retrieved and held at the Campus Safety & Security for 90 days.
Student ID cards are sent to Student Dining Services. University
keys are sent to the locksmith. A student may inquire about lost
items at any time of the day or night, however, items can only be
picked up between 8am - 4pm, Monday through Friday.
student auxiliary are students who supplement the patrol
staff by manning the parking lots on the Harborside Campus and
checking ID's at various Downcity Campus locations.
