What is the Women's Center? The Women's Center at JWU first opened its doors in September '97. The Women's Center is a place for all women and those interested in issues relevant to women. We are a safe place on campus for all individuals and support and work closely with the LGBTQ community on campus. Location The Women’s Center has two offices, one on the Downtown campus, on the third floor of the Citizens Bank for Student Involvement Building and one in South Hall on the Harborside campus. The South Hall office was opened in the fall of 2006. Mission Our Mission is to support and enhance the academic and professional performance and personal development of the women at Johnson & Wales University by striving to create a more inclusive and supportive campus environment. Highlight of Program Topics Body Image, Reducing Stress, Women’s History, Safety, breast Cancer Awareness, Domestic Violence, National Coming Out Day, Day of Silence, Love Your Body Day The Center offers a resource library that can prove beneficial when researching women's issues or when seeking help for self or others. The Center is also a place for a wide variety of individuals to meet, learn, and get involved. We are dedicated to the support, education, and personal growth of all women. Our purpose is to assist women in facing the new challenges, opportunities, and demands which are encountered in today's ever changing society. We welcome students, faculty, and staff who are interested in issues relevant to women. You can work with existing programs or coordinate new ones.
