APPLICATION & DEADLINES
Apply (or renew) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov with J&W school code 003404. Begin as soon after January 1 as possible – estimate your income, if necessary. New students: don’t wait until you’ve been accepted.
PIN If you do not have a personal identification number (PIN), apply for one at www.pin.ed.gov before beginning your FAFSA on the Web. The PIN will allow you to sign your FAFSA electronically and to correct your processed FAFSA information online. One of your parents must also apply for his or her own PIN. A PIN allows you to:
• electronically sign your FAFSA,
• access your Student Financial Aid program records on-line,
• use the Internet to correct or update your FAFSA information, and
• access any future renewal applications.
Deadlines In order to be considered for an optimal financial aid award, submit your FAFSA as soon after January 1 as possible. Financial aid funds are limited; students with completed FAFSAs, in order of reception, receive priority consideration for all forms of scholarships, grants, loans, and employment.
Returning Students If you are returning for the next academic year and received a financial aid award, you must complete the Renewal FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov (you will only need to add new or updated information). Students must reapply for financial aid every year.
Student Aid Report (SAR) You have the opportunity to change or update information later in the financial aid process when you receive a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR). Approximately 4-6 weeks after filing your FAFSA, you will receive a mailed Student Aid Report (SAR), which comes from the federal processor; it is a copy of what you filled out on your FAFSA. If accurate, keep it for your records (J&W will receive your information electronically). If your SAR is incorrect, submit the signed correction pages to your J&W Student Financial Services office. If you do not receive a SAR or have questions about the information it contains, visit www.studentaid.ed.gov. You can also call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-433-3243 or visit www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Expected Family Contribution (EFC) The EFC as determined by your FAFSA is not necessarily the exact amount you will be asked to contribute at J&W. You are encouraged to review our tuition & fees.
