Academic Center, an historic five-story building, on Providence's Downcity Campus is home to the School of Technology where we design our curriculum to match the opportunities available in an ever-evolving industry. Our focus is career education and it shows in our students who are driven by a love for inventing and creating, solving problems, and working to develop new programs.

academic centerStudent-focused hardware includes several hundred desktop computers including high-end Pentiums and Sun workstations all well equipped with peripherals. Web development studios are equipped with Windows and Macintosh computers, and staging servers to host student websites. Networks are powered by Cisco Systems using a switched high speed Ethernet that is connected by microwave to the University's Internet supplier.

Computer, engineering and chemistry labs are uniquely configured to optimize hands-on learning. Some labs are configured in a traditional row setting while others are designed as collaborative workspace where students work as teams on technology projects. Instructors utilize a podium and computer projection to illustrate the fundamentals of the various software applications available to students.

Over 14 miles of copper and fiber optic cables deliver fast Ethernet access to students in J&W technology facilities.
