Personal Statement

I received a BS in Accounting and BS in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1996. I went on to receive a Juris Doctor and Masters of Business Administration from Wake Forest University in 2000.

After graduating from law school, I spent more than 5 years in private practice with Hedrick Eatman Gardner and Kincheloe in Charlotte, North Carolina and Raymond James Financial, Inc., in St. Petersburg, Florida.

I joined the faculty at Johnson & Wales University in 2006, was promoted to full professor in 2014, and was named College Chair for the College of Arts & Sciences in spring 2015. I have served as an arbitrator for Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Inc. (FINRA) since 2007. In 2008 I was admitted to the bar of the United States Supreme Court.

My areas of practice included employment law, civil litigation, workers’ compensation, constitutional law and appellate advocacy. I have written articles and made conference presentations in the areas of workers’ compensation law, trial techniques, employment law, and constitutional law.
