J. Donato Fortin received a Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics and master's degrees in Engineering Mechanics and Mathematics from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio.  He joined JWU as an adjunct instructor at the Charleston Campus in 2002, where he received the Adjunct Faculty award for 2002-03.  He joined JWU fullitme as an Associate Professor at Charlotte in 2004.  Prior to joining the the university, Fortin worked as a Research Engineer for WestRock (then Westvaco Corporation).  He has lectured in Mathematics and Engineering in several universities at home and abroad.  Fortin's pedagogical interest is inquiry-based learning.  His research interest is in badly-conditioned linear systems.
