Bio

Carrie Hegnauer has been a senior culinary instructor with Johnson & Wales University for more than 20 years. She is a graduate of JWU who holds an associate degree in culinary arts as well as a bachelor’s degree in food service management, graduating summa cum laude.

Chef Hegnauer holds an FMP (Food Management Professional) designation from the National Restaurant Association, a CHE (Certified Hospitality Educator) designation from the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute and two advanced certificates with WSET (Wine and Spirits Education Trust). She serves as faculty advisor for JWU Charlotte’s Oenology Society.

An experienced public speaker and demonstration chef, Chef Hegnauer has been featured extensively on Time Warner Cable’s “Cooking with Johnson & Wales.” In addition, she hosted Time Warner’s 12-part “Culinary Classroom” series covering essential kitchen skills. She has also been a frequent guest on “Charlotte Today” and “FOX News Rising.”

In 2014, she and her husband Dave co-founded The City Kitch, a commercial kitchen facilty and food incubator space.

She is involved with Mecklenburg Community Church’s “Compassion Team” and various giving programs in the community.
