Johnson & Wales University… an exceptional education that inspires professional success and lifelong personal and intellectual growth.“

I have worked in the foodservice industry since the 1980s starting as a prep cook and steward. Over the years I worked in clubs, resorts, and fine dining restaurants in order to pay for my education. I have a B.A. from Wake Forest in Political Studies and had planned on leaving the kitchen for a corporate position but my love of food and cooking brought me back to the stove. I attended Johnson & Wales in Charleston because I knew that was the best way to round out my culinary education.  In 1998, I had the good fortune of being hired at the Charleston Campus and found my callling in life. Since being with JWU, I earned a MAE in Education from the Citadel in order to become a better educator.

I moved to Charlotte to help open the campus and am currently the lead instructor for International Cuisines and Culinary Cultures. I have found many opportunities for professional growth here at the campus through workshops, curriculum development and the team work and collegiality that exist here. In 2015, I earned my Doctorate in Education from Wingate University. I believe that we never stop learning and growing.
