Jeff Gilbert received his B.S. degree in Business Administration with a minor in Accounting from Western Washington University in 1977. He also earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Phoenix in 1988.

Gilbert began his business career as an assistant manager of a small bank; he then shifted to managing multi-unit operations for a national franchise. He later formed a partnership to open several franchises, including Sbarro’s the Italian Eatery.

For the last 30 years, his focus has been on entrepreneurship. He has created, opened and operated more than 10 business concepts.

At JWU, Gilbert teaches entrepreneurship, accounting, and finance as well as managing the on-campus extension office for the Small Business Development Center.

He has been married 41 years to his high school sweetheart and has 3 grown children (all boys) and 4 grandchildren. He enjoys a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, camping & fishing. Gilbert enjoys volunteer work with Boy Scouts, Chamber of Commerce, High School Swim Team, Denver Small Business Development Center, etc. He also plays softball and competes in masters swimming.
